Ellis Pushing Golden Suicides To Van Sant
Looks like Bret is really lobbying hard for Gus Van Sant to direct The Golden Suicides.
Also, a Q&A with Ellis, mostly about film.

The Golden Suicides Casting Rumors
So did Angelina Jolie drop out of Wanted 2 to star in The Golden Suicides with James Franco? The rumor has its beginnings in this BEE Twitter post
Keep looking at the script...Angelina and Franco for Theresa and Jeremy?...It doesn't matter...I wrote it for them anyway...I just spaced...
I can see her in this role. Same with Franco. Who knows. Maybe its wishful thinking on Bret's part - maybe he knows something more.

Finishing The Golden Suicides Script
Bret had a Twitter update that he's finishing the script to The Golden Suicides.
This is such a odd story that it could make for an excellent film.

The Golden Suicides
The 'East Village Suicides' or 'Golden Suicides' project that we've mentioned previously has been picked up and has added Gus Van Sant as a writer along with Ellis. Its not entirely clear (to me), but it appears the screenplay will be based on this Vanity Fair article about them. [thanks to James and Marty Beckerman for the heads up]

New Ellis Screenplay Based on Duncan/Blake Suicides
A new screenplay is coming from Bret based on...
Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake, the inseparable East Village artists who killed themselves last year believing they were being persecuted.
I'm not sure what this means for the timing of Imperial Bedrooms, but this sounds like it could make for an interesting film.
"It's a kind of modern Romeo and Juliet story, set in the East Village, with the addition of anti-Bush conspiracy theories and Scientologists," says Sales. "They continue to be the subject of fascination precisely because no one knows exactly why they did it. We only know that they were deeply in love, which makes their suicides all the more mysterious."
